We are figuring out what things to get rid of and what to replace them with in order to wear all spring and summer.
Trends change every season, but this does not mean that you need to completely change your wardrobe, adapting to them. Especially if you approach purchases correctly. Stylists advise betting on a basic wardrobe — such things that will serve for many years. They will stay in your closet for a long time, and you will always look relevant. But the attraction to the base, of course, does not cancel out the current trends and their importance at all, because you never know which of them will stay with us for several years.
Shirts are an important component of both women’s and men’s wardrobes. And then, as white and checkered models, it would seem, belong to the category of things that are not subject to fashion trends, there are still a few nuances that need to be taken into account when going to wear a shirt to work or a meeting with friends in 2022. Today we are figuring out which models have gone out of fashion and which are relevant in the spring-summer 2022 season.
No: Fitted denim
The whole fashion world was delighted with such shirts in the 10s. But many years have passed since then and the trend has completely outlived itself. Fitted models made of thin denim need to be urgently disposed of, and it is better to give them for recycling.
Yes: oversize denim shirt
To replace denim shirts with a fitted cut, you should choose an oversize model. Such a wardrobe item can be worn as an independent element of the image, tucking, for example, into jeans, and also instead of a jacket or cardigan — over a top or T-shirt. The choice should be made in favor of a basic shirt with a minimum of details and decor, as well as in a classic palette of shades, so that this really does not lose its relevance in the coming years. Plus, such a model will be easier to style.
One of the zero trends, for the return of which the world is not yet ready. Firstly, such a shirt will really forgive any image. Secondly, it makes the figure and shoulders more massive and large. Thirdly, it is quite difficult to style such shirts. If you suddenly have a sleeveless shirt in your wardrobe, then the maximum that can be done with it in modern realities is to wear it as part of a multi-layered bow, wearing a jacket, cardigan or other loose-fitting shirt on top, but with a long sleeve.
Yes: loose fit with short sleeves
An ideal option for light images in this spring-summer season. When choosing a short-sleeve shirt, you should pay attention to the minimalistic design and male silhouette. Give preference to models of basic shades, black, gray, milky and white, to be worn with jeans, linen trousers and a maxi skirt (Read also: Pleated skirts are back in fashion: 5 simple combinations that need to be repeated now).
Surprisingly, the popular 10-15 years ago shirts with zippers instead of buttons are still found in the modern wardrobe. Girls are not ready to part with their favorite model, which will forgive the image and make it cheaper and outdated. Do not be lazy to fasten 5 buttons, but at the same time you will get a stylish and up-to-date bow.
Yes: With closed buttons
If you don’t like how classic button-down shirts look, then replace them with this model with an additional strap. Buttons in such shirts are fastened inside, which creates a feeling of their complete absence. Such shirts look laconic and minimalistic.
No: White fitted
White shirts with a fitted cut should have remained in the distant childhood, when we wore them to school on September 1. After graduation, it would be worth forgetting about them, but sometimes they can still be found. Such shirts especially often like to appear within the office wardrobe, although an oversize model would look much more advantageous with a pantsuit or pencil skirt (Read also: For any occasion: what to wear a pencil skirt with).
Yes: White in men’s style
One of the first and main items in the list of things from the basic wardrobe is a white men’s shirt. This is one of the most versatile wardrobe items, with which you can create a great variety of different images. A loose-fitting white shirt can be worn with jeans and skirts, tucked into trousers, or worn over tops, T-shirts and dresses.
No: Fitted in a cage
Another vivid relic of the past, which gives out in its owner a girl who is indifferent to herself and trends. Plaid shirts still have a place to be, but it should be a tight model of loose-fitting flannel, not thin cotton, shortened and fitted silhouette.
Yes: Oversize-shirt with an asymmetrical cut
A stylish alternative to the boring plaid shirts will be a model in the power of colorblocking of an asymmetric cut. Designers have been playing with the patchwork trend for several seasons, showing models as if assembled from several contrasting shirts in color and length. It turns out bright and interesting models that are able to turn even the simplest image into a modern and relevant one.
