Fashion includes not only certain things and shades, but also combinations that, unfortunately, also tend to become obsolete. We advise you to check the list of the most irrelevant ensembles and make sure that you don’t wear it like that anymore.
Over the past 20 years, the fashion world has not come up with a single new thing. Skirts, trousers, jumpers, shirts — all wardrobe items have long been familiar to us. And yet, every season the fashion world manages to offer something new. Due to what, if all the wardrobe items have already been invented? The secret is that fashion includes not only specific things, but also combinations. Simply put — how exactly we wear this or that thing this season. We offer you to familiarize yourself with the list of popular autumn-winter ensembles that have long ceased to be fashionable (and let’s figure out how the same things can be worn in a new way).
Skinny jeans + fitted down jacket
Total fit has been gradually losing ground for the last ten years, and with them, skinny and tight down jackets have gone into the background. Tight jeans are replaced with models with wide legs, slouchy, or mom jeans, and instead of a fitted down jacket, we take a voluminous straight-cut model.
Fur coat + heeled boots
This outdated combination has long been a thing of the past. In everyday life, “shaggy” fur coats have given way to plush versions of shorn wool. Feel free to combine them with shoes on a flat course, a cap and about-sports things. The same applies to our usual fur coats made of natural fur. We update them in the same way – with relaxed things and a flat course.
Winter clothes + transparent tights
It seems that everyone has already read about it somewhere, but for some reason they continue to wear it. If it’s snowing outside, and a bare leg is peeking out between the coat and the boot, it looks like you forgot about a piece of clothing. It is not fashionable, not stylish and is not suitable for all occasions. Instead, take tights to match shoes or belts, and you will kill two birds with one stone at the same time: you will look appropriate relative to weather conditions and avoid a large number of horizontal lines that visually make you shorter and wider.
Skinny jeans and knee-high black boots
Yes, it was fashionable, we all wore it 10-15 years ago. Skinny is not the most current model of recent seasons. To look modern, we change skinny jeans to more voluminous jeans and only such jeans are tucked into boots. It is important to take into account the volume of the boot top — it should be quite wide. And if you don’t want to part with skinny in any way, use the volume compensation technique: if you choose a fit from below, complement it with a free thing — it can be a voluminous sweater, shirt, oversize jacket, plush fur coat or shirt jacket. And no high heeled boots — replace them with boots with a massive sole.
Bag + shoes of the same color
The fashionable “rule” of choosing a handbag and shoes of the same color is a thing of the past, but has left a mark in many wardrobes. Many women still prefer exclusively black bags that fit under shoes of a practical dark color. We forget this rule. The bag should be the color that you like and that suits your wardrobe.
Hat + Mittens + Scarf set
It was fashionable to wear a headdress, mittens and a scarf as a set. But, like all fashionable combinations, this combination no longer looks relevant (and may even make the whole image obsolete). Now these accessories do not have to be combined either in color or texture. A headdress can repeat the color of shoes, mittens – the color of outerwear, and a scarf can be a neutral achromate.
Shirt + Jumper + Collar
A few autumn-winter seasons ago, we made stylish multi-layered images using this technique – a shirt, a jumper and a straightened collar. Today, such a combination would be appropriate except in a conservative office or as a uniform in fast food restaurants. But, alas, it does not look relevant at all in a casual wardrobe. What has changed a lot in this combination is the volumes. We replace a tight shirt with a voluminous or very voluminous one, more like a mini-dress in length. We complement it with an equally voluminous jumper, a knitted vest or even a hoodie. As for collars, enlarged retro options are in the trend. If you have a weakness for them, a removable collar will help you refresh your images and look on trend.
Short shorts + tights + boots
At one time, many of us wore short summer shorts in autumn and winter and complemented them with tights and boots. Unfortunately, this combination is a thing of the past. Perhaps the only shorts that are appropriate to wear in the autumn-winter period in the city are Bermuda shorts. To get an up-to-date combination, complement them with high boots that should go butt-to-butt with shorts.
