In boiled water, bacteria and parasites die, but toxins still remain. Chlorine is also not completely evaporated: some of it precipitates and combines with other chemicals. Together they form carcinogens that stimulate inflammatory processes in the body. At the same time, the oxygen level in boiled water is lower than in raw water, so with prolonged intake of such a liquid, oxygen deficiency develops – vitamins and trace elements are absorbed worse, the brain slows down, as a result of which you become less attentive.

Filtered water: pros and cons

Experts distinguish three types of filters, and each of them affects the composition of tap water in its own way. For example, reverse osmosis filters completely remove chlorine and impurities, but at the same time deprive water of about 80% of trace elements. The ion exchange filter neutralizes scale and softens the texture, but dissolves salts and calcium. A compromise between the reverse osmosis system and ion exchange can be carbon filters. They remove toxins, kill bacteria, but at the same time retain all the useful substances and even further enrich the water with various minerals. The US Environmental Protection Agency has officially recognized this method as the most effective and safe for health.

“The rejection of reverse osmosis makes it possible to preserve in water a full complex of salts and minerals vital for health — magnesium, sodium, calcium, selenium, potassium, bromine and iodine. But granular home filters have one big drawback: the bulk material inside can get lost. In this case, the water passes through small channels, skipping all stages of filtration. Therefore, some people prefer to drink only bottled water.

Bottled water: pros and cons

But is any bottled water good? Producers choose water from various sources: spring, distilled and tap water. According to statistics, 40% of bottled water is bottled untreated tap water, and 23% is distilled, which draws useful salts and minerals from a person. And only the remaining 37% of the bottles on the store shelves are filled with water from underground sources, which, however, also does not automatically make them safe for health.

Methods of water purification and storage have a great influence on the quality of water. In 2018, during one study, experts tested 11 brands of well-known bottled water from 9 countries and concluded that 93% of the 259 samples selected contain microplastics. This is partly caused by the characteristics of the packages and the filling process itself. Other studies have shown that microplastics destroy the human endocrine system and contribute to the development of inflammatory processes, as toxic chemicals accumulate over time in the liver, kidneys and intestines.

How to choose “live” water?

It is important for a person to maintain an acid-base balance. If we allow disharmony, soon the number of harmful bacteria in the body will begin to increase rapidly, which will cause new diseases. The ideal level of acidity of the liquid varies between 6.5 to 7.5. In this range is mountain spring water, which is purified without boiling and exposure to aggressive filters. It can be obtained independently or purchased in the store in bottled form. When buying, pay attention to the following factors:

  • The sources with which the manufacturer works must be located in an environmentally friendly place;

  • Instead of a plastic bottle, choose an aseptic one to minimize the use of microplastics. In such a package, the natural qualities of water are preserved, and during transportation it is not afraid of temperature changes.

  • In the cleaning system, the absence of reverse osmosis is desirable. This will help to preserve the full complex of salts and minerals: magnesium, sodium, calcium, selenium, silicon, potassium, bromine, iodine.
