We are figuring out why it’s finally time to stop following certain fashion rules that have been leading the ranking of the main fashion taboos for decades.
1. Before leaving the house, take off the last accessory that you put on yourself
It’s time to forget about this mantra of the last century and take a close look at the latest shows of the freshest fashion weeks. Chanel, Gucci, Balmain – try to imagine these collections without an impressive range of accessories. Chokers, brooches, stupid hats, large shoulder bags complete with waist bags – all this today only says that the time of this rule has passed. Take an example from the magnificent Iris Apfel, who personifies the truthfulness of the motto “the more, the better” in terms of accessories.
2. Red + Pink = bad idea
Once upon a time, this color combination got a pretty bad reputation in the fashion world. Some consider such a mix too vulgar, while others firmly believe that only tasteless people can risk their style and mix these colors in their image. Don’t listen to them! In fact, everything is completely different: these colors combined with each other today look fresh and original. You are guaranteed to attract a lot of admiring attention (is that bad?) if you combine red and pink correctly. Plus, remember that both colors have a huge range of shades – feel free to experiment.
3. Dark blue + Black = huge mistake
Completely forget about this statement. The reality is that this is one of the most winning combinations of colors. With a mix of dark blue and black, you can easily add a drop of chic to your image, just as you can add gloss to the evening image, which you are going to embody for a trip to your favorite restaurant. For the first time, the mentioned combination appeared massively in the collections of Miu Miu, Gucci and Prabal Gurung of the autumn-winter 2012 season. Many people liked the new color combination very much — it-girls instantly picked up the wave, and the color combination became a real example of high fashion brought to the streets.
4. Mixing prints looks like a pile-up
Fundamentally wrong. Mismatched prints as a single trend look incredibly cool: just accept this fact, and you will be the most stylish. Several drawings mixed in one image will instantly turn your daily boring outfit into an example of a cool street-style image from some Milan fashion week. Professional fashionistas know how to mix stripes with floral prints and zigzag prints with a polka dot pattern, but beginners should start with something simpler, for example, mix animal prints with each other or primitively try to combine a zebra with a handbag with a floral print.
5. Sneakers and sneakers are only needed for the gym

If you still adhere to this rule— you definitely do not follow everything that has been going on in fashion for the last five years at least. Real fashion designers of our days know at a professional level how a pair of stylish sneakers can elevate any of their image to the top of the fashion pyramid. You can easily mix a good pair of sneakers with anything from black leather skinny trousers to an elegant floor-length evening dress. Take an example from bloggers. All of them, including Christina Bazan and Chiara Ferragni, constantly promote this trend on their Instagram.
6. Every woman should have a white shirt, a beige trench coat and a black pencil skirt in her wardrobe
Don’t waste your precious time searching for the perfect beige trench coat, if you don’t like trench coats in principle, the same goes for pencil skirts. Why, in fact, should you like all this? You know best of all what suits you perfectly and, in particular, what clothes you feel most comfortable in. There is no one and only inviolable mantra that everyone should follow. Do whatever you want, wear whatever your (!) heart desires.
7. Do not combine dresses with trousers

Perhaps the vast majority will say that it is very tasteless to mix a dress with skirts/ jeans in one image. But it is the clear contrast that arises between these garments that makes such a combination special and fresh. Skinny jeans + a mini dress (or an elongated tunic) or stylish leggings + maxi dresses in combination can create an amazing image.
8. Red lipstick only for the evening
For quite a long time, blood-red (well, or simple scarlet) lipstick or, say, smoky eyes were considered too “evening” element for a morning or afternoon look. But, you must agree, there is nothing criminal, and certainly forbidden in a beautiful bright lipstick (scarlet, pink, purple, purple, orange — all the “juice” colors are here). It is the bright accent on the lips that will set you apart from the crowd and enliven the primitive day bow. But still do not forget about one golden rule: choose one thing — make your lips bright or boldly make up your eyes. Make the remaining makeup as natural as possible.
9. Men’s clothing for men only
We suggest finally breaking this “iron” rule (if you haven’t done it yet). Men’s fashion is very beautiful, and if you like a thing from your boyfriend’s closet, go and buy exactly the same one for yourself (or just steal it from his closet). Believe me, with the right combination with other things, no one will notice that the same shirt was actually bought in a men’s boutique. Check J.Crew, H&M, Zara and Forever 21 – they all have “made for men” things on the shelves of their stores that will suit you perfectly.
