The royal family owns countless jewels, however, many of them remain idle in the royal vaults. Contrary to stereotypes, members of the royal family do not attend many events with a dress code that requires especially luxurious jewelry. Therefore, it is quite natural that we see many items from the Windsor collection infrequently. Nevertheless, it is a little sad that the most exquisite jewels in the world are locked up in vaults for a long time. We show six pieces of jewelry that we hope Elizabeth, Duchess Kate or another member of the royal family will try on someday.

Princess Margaret’s Persian Turquoise Parure

An exquisite set of jewelry with Persian turquoise, made by Garrard jewelry house, was bequeathed to Princess Margaret by the Queen Mother, who, in turn, received it as a wedding gift from her father-in-law, King George V. Unfortunately, the parure, which includes a necklace, earrings, tiara and brooch, has not been seen since Margaret’s death, and it is unclear whether it is now in the possession of one of her children or returned to the royal vaults.

It’s been a while since the Strathmore Rose Tiara, one of the Queen Mother’s favorite sparkling tiaras, has seen the light. The Queen mother received this decoration as a wedding gift from her father. She often wore it on her forehead, as was fashionable at the time. Some experts suggested that Meghan could have chosen it as a wedding tiara, but in the end, the prince’s bride opted for a diamond tiara-the bandeau of Maria Tek.

In recent decades, choker necklaces have lost popularity among members of the royal family, who now prefer to wear variants of other styles — and this is sad, because jewelry such as a necklace with trophies of love looks really impressive. This jewelry was made by the Garrard jewelry house for Queen Mary in 1901 using diamonds belonging to Maria’s grandmother (Princess Augusta of Hesse-Kassel) and her aunt (Princess Augusta of Cambridge), which were then set in gold.

The sparkling tiara with three diamond roses and 20 diamond crescents was created from precious stones inherited by Queen Mary’s mother the Duchess of Teck from her aunt the Duchess of Gloucester. Eventually, the jewel came into the possession of the Queen Mother, and was later inherited by Queen Elizabeth. But, according to experts, the decoration has not appeared in public since 1939.

Undoubtedly, the necklace of Queen Alexandra should be one of the most notable pieces in the collection of Queen Elizabeth. The product was presented to Princess Alexandra to celebrate her wedding to the future King Edward VII. The decoration has 2000 diamonds and 118 pearls in a gold frame. What really distinguishes this necklace from many others and gives it its name is a replica of the famous Dagmar Cross made on enamel.

Sapphire Tiara-bandeau of Queen Mary

It is believed that Queen Mary bought this stunning tiara at auction, but the origin of the jewelry is not entirely clear. Its central element, a sapphire and a diamond, can be removed and replaced with another gemstone, which makes it particularly versatile. Queen Elizabeth inherited the tiara after Mary’s death, but chose to lend it to her sister, Princess Margaret, rather than wear the jewel herself. The tiara has been out of the public eye for some time, and it is unclear where it is now.
